So we’ve all heard about climbing the career ladder. And yes, sometimes we hear about demotions or taking a step back.
But how about going from CEO to a line worker?
Yes my friends, it looks like former Bayern Munich assistant and this season’s Chivas USA coach, Martin Vasquez, will become a U10 coach for Southern California club, Celtic!
How does something like this happen?
Sure his first head coaching gig in MLS turned out to be brutal. The team ended up being the 2nd worst in the league with:
8 wins
18 losses
4 ties
and Vasquez was fired shortly thereafter.
Now that the season is over, there will be some musical chairs with the hiring/firing of coaches and staff. I wonder if Martin is still considered to be in the game, or if the door has been shut.
But even if MLS in no longer an option, there’s still college right? Or how about Mexico where he had a 10 year professional career, 3 of which he played under world class coach Marcelo Bielsa. One thing’s for sure, he has no shortage of connections.
Giving Back?
I have to believe he genuinely wants to help out the kids until the right opportunity presents itself. Even if it’s just for a few months, bravo Martin!
But if you stick around for too long, then something fishy is going on … and I’ll have to investigate.
See you on the fields!
